Physical Description: Tall and curvy, Carmen can best be described as 'voluptuous.' But underneath those curves are a decent sent of muscles, honed from, well, having brothers and being something of a gearhead - this is a girl unafraid to work on her own car or throw a punch when she's pissed. She's got a perpetual tan that only deepens in the summer, black hair and dark brown eyes. She's usually dressed casually - jeans and blouses, but can either dress up to go out or grunge down to do her dirty work, be that mechanical or magical. She's got a slinky way of moving, with plenty of hip action, and her voice is a throaty, purring contralto with a very faint hint of an accent that becomes more pronounced when angry or excited.

Personality: Carmen can have a very forceful personality - she's opinionated and doesn't hesitate to share those opinion whether they're requested or not (and she operates under the assumption that everyone wants to hear her opinions all the time.) She's flirtatious (some would say promiscuous), outgoing, and not shy in the least. She's sarcastic, with a strong, biting wit that most find funny when it's not aimed at them, and has a love of chaos and a nose for finding trouble. She almost never backs down from a fight, either - if someone starts something, you can bet she'll be the one to finish it. She's no stranger to screaming matches if getting into an argument with friends or family, but it's when she gets quiet that you really have to worry - because chances are good that you're going to have a nasty spell headed your way before too long. She's also smart and vindictive, with an utter lack of regard for others and ruthless when roused.

Sexuality: Flexible.

History: Carmen grew up in a Mexican family in Pasadena, California. She was born a witch, as had her mother and grandmother and the women in her family going back generations. Her family always had strong roots in brujería, a magical tradition that is strongly matriarchal, believing the power to be passed down through females. Even more, Carmen was the only daughter in a family with six children; she's the youngest and has five older brothers, which meant that she not only had to learn to be tough fast, she was also daddy's little girl. Her brothers all have some magical talent, but it's always been the women in the family who are the major practitioners. The boys focused on other, more mundane careers.

Her childhood was normal to her, but when viewed from the outside would have brought child services running if her family hadn't been careful. And if the neighbors hadn't known that Carmen's mother would have cursed them into next year had they tried anything. Carmen began learning her craft from her mother at a very early age. It was an informal sort of education, as the family's brujería was folk magic, not the more modern syncretic types that cropped up in America. She sacrificed her first chicken at age six - it was a cause for celebration in the family. Carmen got presents.

Like her mother, her talents swung towards the dark end of the spectrum - not only did she have a talent for cursing and taking what she wanted at the expense of others, she enjoyed it. Her mother's frequent rewards for successes only reinforced that behavior. Carmen's family was, of course, not a traditional family in either the American or the Mexican sense. Sure, they were all close if anyone looked, but demonic blood runs through their veins to varying degrees and their love is somewhat... nontraditional. In the Santiago family, one shows love by bartering and bargaining - nothing comes free, no matter who you are, and it's a sort of game to see who can come out on top in any deal. Carmen had something of an advantage - as a powerful little witch, she had daddy positively wrapped around her little finger, and once she figured out the keys to her brothers, winding them up wasn't all that hard, either. At the same time, the men in her family rubbed off on her, as well. Jaime and Rafael taught her to fight - and fight dirty. Her older brother Miguel and her father Luis were raging gearheads, always buying and restoring old cars (a practice that could get quite lucrative at times.) Carmen, in her early stages of following her brothers around like a leech, determined that she had something of a love for cars, which developed into a love of fast cars and a talent for mechanics. For her fifteenth birthday, Luis bought Carmen a 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350 in dire need of restoration - the catch was that she had to provide for all the work herself. Together with Miguel, Carmen repaired and restored the vintage pony car using any bit of money she was able to finagle from her father as well as spells she was able to cast on herself to help get the funds she needed, backlash be damned. The rest was provided with manipulation and theft if strictly necessary. One way or another, Carmen got it done, though it took 3 years.

School never being terribly important to her or her family, Carmen graduated with mediocre grades - she's smart, but applies herself instead to her magic rather than academics. At nineteen, she decided to get out and see the world, so she packed her belongings in the mustang (now painted bright red with two white racing stripes) and headed out. Her travels took her down to Mexico, a tiny village just south of Cozumel where she studied further with an old, wise, and rather mercenary bruja. It was hard work - the only thing Carmen ever deemed worthy of hard work (save her car) - but it paid off as her skills and power increased over the next three years.

She left the village at 22 and wandered where the wind took her, alternately replenishing her bank account with a string of rich boyfriends and odd jobs she picked up - like bartending, gogo dancing, even a bout with stripping. At 25, she ended up in Scarlet Oaks and decided to stay a while, mostly because the town looked far too sweet and she was determined to cause some trouble. In the name of balance, of course. Her first order of business was to find a rich boyfriend, an idle fratboy sort who was only too happy to get her set up in an apartment for a few months. She picked up a surprisingly lucrative job bartending at a popular upscale salsa club called the Rumba Room on the fringes of Scarlet Oaks and followed in her mother's footsteps by offering her services as a bruja under the table to others in the latino community. She'll do anything with in the scope of her abilities for a price, and has been known to sucker the anglos with phony amulets and disgusting herbal pastes that do jack crap. She's also recently begun to touch upon blood magic, something she'd been introduced to down in Mexico but had avoided because of the necessity of cutting herself. She's working right now to see if her spells are as effective with blood drawn in a more humane way rather than slicing and dicing.

Since the Light of May: Carmen was a little disappointed with the Light of May, to be honest. She'd expected a much bigger bloodbath than there was, and had been prepared to sit back and enjoy the eventual carnage. At least, against the vampires and weres, that was. As for her, word started getting around a little more about her skills and business since has been happily brisk.

Special Skills/Abilities: Good with cars, awesome at flair bartending, and her voice isn't half-bad.

Personal Weaknesses: Hothead: Carmen can be easily angered, especially if things don't go her way. Until she's able to calm down enough to take action or get revenge, she's liable to start fights, scream, and throw tantrums.

Confrontational: If she gets bored, she'll often go out looking for a fight just so she can wreck someone's day. If she's not happy, no one else around her gets to be happy, either. And honestly, the best way to sweeten her mood is to cause someone else a little pain.

Daredevil: Carmen doesn't think of the consequences of her actions and isn't afraid to risk personal injury if she wants to do something, and she definitely never considers the well-being of others.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder: Carmen just calls it being fabulous, but psychologists would likely disagree. Carmen's biggest concerns are being powerful - she doesn't want to be at anyone's mercy, and she loves to be able to lord her skills and powers over people to get what she wants. She's also got an extreme lack of empathy - she could see a man with two broken legs trying to save a baby stuck in a car seat during an accident on train tracks with the train coming and not be moved to help in the slightest. After all, what would she get? She might be interested if someone were to point out the admiration she'd get for her good deed, but she might not think of that on her own. And it might not be worth it. What if she broke a nail? That means she also doesn't form close relationships with others, family not included. (Though even then, if one of them was hurt and dying, she'd have to see some clear benefit to saving them.) Of course, if she found someone as evil as she could be, she might be in love - but it wouldn't be love, it'd only be a mutually agreeable exploitative relationship. It means she's rather incapable of understanding the plight of, well... anyone but herself.

Entitled: Hand in hand with her narcissism, Carmen's also got a huge sense of entitlement. The way she sees it, she's hot, talented, and a prize for anyone be it as a friend or more. Which means she just deserves nice things. It's the unwary bystander who'll inform her otherwise at his or her own risk.

Personal Strengths: Determined: When Carmen sets her sights on something, nothing interferes until she has it. She doesn't understand the meaning of quitting or giving up, and failure is not an option. When things get rough, it's okay - Carmen's not the type to get rattled.

Confidence: Carmen's a pretty hot cookie and she knows it. It also means that when she says she can do something, she's absolutely positive about that. And if the inconceivable happened and she messed up or didn't achieve her goal the first time? Well, now it's personal. She'll keep trying until she succeeds.

Ambidextrous: Carmen can use either hand equally well, which is great when it comes to trick bartending, bowling, and sacrificing small animals.
